Police notes (Aug. 7, 2009)
IMPATIENT PATIENT
Officers responded to reports of a fight in progress on Broadway, where they discovered four men in a brawl. The men were separated; one was put into an ambulance where paramedics treated him for injuries to his arm. Police say the man was charged with assault after he assaulted the paramedic who was treating him.
EXPENSIVE TRAFFIC STOP
Police discovered more than $12,500 in cash – made up of $20, $50 and $100 bills – in the trunk of a car stopped on Main Street for speeding. Officers say the driver admitted to having marijuana in the car as well and consented to a search after he was stopped. The man is being charged with possession of marijuana and the money has been seized pending further investigation.
TRAILBLAZER
Police have no suspects in the case of several holes being dug in a schoolyard on Wescott Street. Officers say it appears the holes were dug and several shrubs were uprooted to make a bike path.
KIDS
Officers returned children to their parents when they were discovered smashing light bulbs on High Street. The bulbs came from several lamps that were left on the side of the road with a “Free” sign.
