BLOOD BROTHERS

Officers responded to reports of a fight on Memory Lane, where two men – who later said they were friends – were having an argument in the street. Police say one of the men went inside and brought out a kitchen knife during the argument. He used the knife to slash the other man in the upper arm before running away. The injured man did not press charges.

MONEY LAUNDERING

Police have no suspects after a Laundromat on Market Street was broken into and robbed. Officers say the burglar entered through the roof, then stole more than $400 from a cash register and a locked safe.

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?

An Animal Control Officer arrived at the Willard Beach parking lot on Fisherman’s Lane after police received reports of animal abuse. The officer discovered a 20-pound terrier tied to the drivers seat of a locked car. The dog was removed from the car and later reunited with its owner, who was summonsed for animal cruelty. Police say the temperature inside the car was more than 110 degrees.

 SEAFOOD LOVER

A man was issued a citation for criminal trespass after trying to steal three dollars worth of scallops from a supermarket on Waterman Street. Police say the store’s security cameras show the man hiding the scallops in a bag of lobster.

FINDERS KEEPERS

Police filed a report of theft when nearly $40,000 in marine dock floats disconnected from the mainland and floated out into Portland Harbor. Officers say someone discovered the floats and threatened to claim them via a maritime salvage law, but they were eventually returned to the original owner.

WRONG TURN

Police began pursuing a man driving a pickup truck on Broadway after officers witnessed the man driving erratically. The man drove onto Anthoine Street, where more officers waiting at the police station joined in the pursuit. The man was eventually stopped and arrested for drunk driving. Officers ay it was the man’s third offense.
