Ukelady at library Aug. 6
Mary Hargreaves (a.k.a. Mary Ukelady,) a singer-songwriter from western Maine, will present original songs on ukulele and guitar in the last of Thomas Memorial Library’s summer outdoor concert series.
Her children’s folk songs are tunes about ponies, trees, lizards, toads and frogs, a dancing cow, hometown, a bike ride, kindness and gifts of love.
While singing in her daughter’s first grade classroom, she discovered children make a great audience, and for 10 years she has performed in many Maine community festivals, classrooms, libraries, family events, and on community television.
She has released two recordings: her debut album “Love Is Strong,” featuring 12 upswing originals with ensemble, and “Little Pony Express,” a collection of kids’ songs for the whole family. The concert will take place Thursday, Aug. 6, at 6:30 p.m. on the library’s front lawn (rain location: the Pond Cove/Middle School Cafetorium) in Cape Elizabeth. For more information, call the library at 799-1720.
