WITHOUT A PADDLE

Officers responded to a Fowler Road resident who claimed their canoe had been stolen. The resident had already located the canoe, which was chained to a tree next to a pond. Police confirmed the resident owned the canoe and removed the chain.

BRING CRAYONS NEXT TIME

Police issued two summonses to two boys who were found drinking alcohol on Broadway. One of the boys was also charged with possession of graffiti material since he had several broad-tipped markers in a backpack.

RELAY FOR JAILTIME

Police arrested two men in association with vandalism that occurred to approximately 15 vehicles parked along Jordan, Highland and Anthoine streets during a Relay For Life event.

One of the men was also charged with possession of illegal drugs, a prescription medication believed to have been found in one of the vehicles.

Officers say they are still trying to determine how many vehicles were broken into and which items were stolen from each car.

FIRST THE TABLE, THEN THE CAT

Police filed a report of assault after responding to a dispute on Preble Street between two neighbors. Officers say the argument started about some lawn furniture that had been moved by one of the neighbors and resulted in a cat being kicked.

The case was referred to the District Attorney’s office for review, police say.

NOT COOL

Animal Control Officers removed a miniature pinscher from a car in the Maine Mall parking lot after receiving a call that the dog had been left unattended.

The owner called the station after returning to the car and was summonsed for animal cruelty when they arrived to retrieve the dog.

COVERING HIS TRACKS

Officers responded to a report of burglary on Minot Street, where a resident reported an iPod, alarm clock and a ring had been stolen. Police used a trained dog to follow the scent of the burglar, which led them to a spot where officers had noticed a man walking earlier in the day.

Police say they have no suspects.
