Letter: Beach balls do not belong (June 19, 2009)
Editor:
Beach balls do not belong at graduations ceremonies. Why do South Portland graduates feel the need to trivialize this momentous event in their lives? If they think it is a joke to disrupt the ceremony, something important is missing in their education. It is sad that a staff member has to chase down and collect these toys. Every year one or more newspapers mention that the South Portland graduates are batting around beach ball at the ceremony. This is not something that makes taxpayers proud and want to appropriate more money for a new high school.
