BITE AND FORGET

Police assisted a Mitchell Road resident who reported being bit by a dog. Officers located the dog’s owner and discovered the animal’s vaccinations were current. No charges were filed.

CALLER ID

Officers responded to a report of harassment when a Mitchell Road resident reported they had received suspicious calls. The person claimed they were from a credit card company and wanted to collect an outstanding balance. Police contacted the company and discovered there were two listings with the same name and the company and accidentally called the wrong person.

South Portland

OUT OF GAS

Officers responded to reports of burglary to a vehicle on Brigham Street when a man found a large puddle of gasoline under his motorcycle. At first, police believed a large round hole discovered in the underside of the tank had been drilled, but could not find any metal shavings. Eventually officers came to the conclusion that extreme temperatures had caused a factory installed metal plug to blow out of the bottom of the tank.

READ ALL ABOUT IT

Police arrested two men from Atlanta, Ga. after receiving multiple calls that they were traveling door to door selling magazine subscriptions on Alfred Street. Neither of the two men had permits required by the state and were charged with a misdemeanor crime. Officers say prosecutors did not pursue the case.

BUSTED WITH BUTTS

Police summonsed two 17-year-olds who were smoking and drinking at a Hill Street residence. Officers say one of the boys was also carrying a glass pipe that smelled of marijuana.

JUST KIDDING

Police responded to reports of a man running into an Elm Street apartment building with a rifle. Upon entering the building, officers located two other armed men. All three of the men were disarmed and police discovered they were wielding non-lethal “Air Soft” weapons with yellow tips on the ends of the barrels. No charges were filed.

FOLLOW THE ARROW

Officers summonsed a man who stole a Tom-Tom GPS system from his next-door neighbor’s car. Police say they located the device by following up on a rumor that a nearby resident had been breaking into vehicles.
