I had the pleasure of attending the graduation of a close family member at South Portland High School for the second time and for the most part enjoyed the whole ceremony. There was one thing that took away from the ceremony in 2005 and again in 2009. That one thing was the excessive vigilance of one member of the staff who found it necessary to chase down and collect every inflatable beach ball that was brought to the ceremony by the graduating students. Here was a group of students that have worked hard for a long time and it was their way to celebrate in a small way  this momentous event...so let them enjoy their day and I am sure you can remember what it was like to sit in their place on that special day…congratulations to the class of 2009!
