Aucocisco School in Cape Elizabeth had three of its students place among the top 10 high school teams in the 2009 Maine Stock Market Game. This year’s game was sponsored by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association and the SIFMA Foundation for Investor Education.
Sarah Rogers-Moses, a freshman at Aucocisco School from Cumberland Foreside, took first place. Her virtual portfolio earned 60 percent return above the S&P 500 growth, placing her at the top of all 78 high school teams in the state.
Asa Wolfinger, a senior from Cape Elizabeth, placed second among high school teams with a 52 percent return, while another Aucocisco student placed ninth.
Aucocisco School, located at 126 Spurwink Ave. in Cape Elizabeth, is a private alternative school that serves elementary, middle and high school students who have learning differences.

Seventh grade: Emmy Longnecker, Emily Mazza, Avni Alonzo, Josh Stein, Sarah Donahue, Gillian Coates, Fred Baldenweck, Katie Randall and Grace York.
Sixth grade: Rebecca Beatty, Brianna Chaisson, Mairead Clonan, Greta DiPierro, Sean Foley, Kyle Halvorsen, Viviane Kostin, Kathleen O’Brien and Haylee Walsh.
Table space available for Kid’s Yard Sale June 6
The South Portland Parks and Recreation Department is having its second annual Kid’s Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 6 at the South Portland Community Center, located next to the high school on Nelson Road. Set up begins at 8 a.m. Children can rent a table and learn the pros and cons of entrepreneurship by selling gently used items such as toys, clothes, CDs and DVDs.
Table rentals are $10 each. There is a $5 additional fee for non-residents. Pre-registration is required for this event. Children younger than 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Children/ families are responsible for pricing all their items, as well as having money to start sales. For more information, contact Lisa Bingham at 767-7650.
