Letter: Walsh has needed ‘go to’ attitude for Cape council (Jan. 16, 2009)
I am writing to endorse Jim Walsh for the Cape Elizabeth Town Council. I have known Jim for nearly 20 years as a neighbor and friend. Jim has always been an energetic leader within our community and would be a valuable addition to the council.
When I first met Jim it was through our children, as several were classmates at Cape Elizabeth middle and high schools. At that time Jim and his wife Kathy had organized a neighborhood parents group to meet and support our adolescent children at school. Jim led a valuable communication group among concerned parents. This is just one example of Jim’s leadership and his “go to” attitude in approaching concerns.
Jim has always been concerned with our town and where it is going. As an active parent, coach, and mentor he has been a leader in several booster and fund raising efforts for Cape Elizabeth. He was instrumental in the turf field project and has been a supporter of the Gull Crest Trail work and other worthy efforts.
He also brings to his candidacy a breath of business experience and leadership. Jim has been involved in several very successful business and corporate ventures and now during these challenging economic times his experience, management style, and energy would be an asset to the council.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly Jim is a man of integrity who is not afraid of hard work! He is a wonderful family man who understands the workings of our town, and yet has an energy to work positively during these financially difficult times. I can think of no better candidate for the town council going forward.
