As a lifelong resident of Cape Elizabeth I’m writing to give my support to Penny Jordan, who is running for the vacant seat on the town council. Penny’s background and family commitment to the town is exactly what we need to bring this community together during these challenging times.

   Penny graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1972, receiving her masters from Boston University with a focus on program design and community organizing; therefore she knows the importance of an excellent education. Penny believes every town has an obligation to their young people to provide a well rounded education that prepares them for the challenges ahead.

   Penny worked for UNUM in Portland for 20 years, gaining a firm understanding of organization, facilitation, team building, budget management and other skills that have served her as she transitioned to running her own business.

   I personally have known Penny for better than 50 years having been a classmate in the Cape Elizabeth schools. In 2004 I had the privilege of working with Penny and her family to develop an agricultural easement on their farm on Wells Road and again in 2007 with the development of t he Cape Farm Alliance, of which she is the chairman. I found Penny’s organizational and leadership skills unparalleled, she has a very unique ability of listening to others while engaging the community in order to make informed decisions.

   Please join me and others that know Penny Jordan in supporting her for town council on Jan. 27.
