Letter: Gun safety should be considered (Dec. 12, 2008)

Maine is a beautiful state. There are wonderful forests, clean lakes and rivers. Maine has different kinds of animals: deer, bears, and moose. Maine is also one of the best places for hunters. Many people have guns. Sometimes hunters buy two, three, four or even more guns. They do that just for personal interest, hobby or collection.
Some people buy ones which are intended for military purpose. These are very powerful, long shooting and dangerous. These deadly arsenals are kept by hunters in closets and basements of their homes. The danger is that kids can take guns and shoot somebody like they play with toys.
We have to think about our family, about society. I believe that state laws should be changed so that hunters should use only hunting weapons for hunting and in limited quantities.
