Letter: Glynn has my vote for State Representative race (Sept. 26, 2008)
Editor:
Maine continues to face a high tax and regulatory burden on both its citizens and businesses. It appears to me that our State Legislature’s main objective is to think up new ways to tax us, to add fees to us and to regulate us. An example of this is the new – and improved – method of collecting additional tax on the beverages that many of us enjoy. Fortunately, there is an effort to repeal this and maybe, the collective, we, should take on the endeavor to mount opposition to more of these silly acts of our illustrious legislators.
That venture, however, should not be the only one taken to help us get rid of the affliction of these immense taxes and regulations. We need to elect people who understand that taxing people and businesses to death is not the way to state prosperity. If we want businesses and individuals to invest in Maine, put Maine people to work and continue the traditional adage – Maine, the way life should be – we need people in Augusta who understand – the way life should be.
One such person is running for the Maine House of Representatives, in District 124, the western portion of South Portland, Kevin Glynn. He already served four terms in that seat, before being term-limited out, working to make South Portland and Maine a friendlier place for residents to live, work and spend their leisure time. Kevin has worked tirelessly, both in the legislature and back to his several terms as a South Portland City Councilor at large to reduce the tax, fee and regulatory weight on business, on you and on me. He wants to energize Maine’s economy in proven ways to inspire job growth and business success. Creating a thriving economy brings more money to the Maine coffers and relaxes the burdens placed on Maine’s citizens.
Isn’t that the kind of representative we want? One who wants - Maine, the way life should be – to be a true statement again. Please join with me and a vast number of others living in House District 124 in voting for Kevin Glynn on Nov. 4. In his literature you will see – “A name we know – a record we can trust” – I know and trust this man, please vote Kevin Glynn.
Thomas K. Brown, Sr.
South Portland
