Letter: Support Larry Bliss (June 6, 2008)
Editor:
I am writing to encourage you to vote for Larry Bliss for State Senator (District 7, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth and Scarborough) in the June 10 Democratic primary. While Larry has gained the respect and support of his legislative colleagues and constituents in the four terms he’s served in the state legislature, I urge all registered Democrats not to take his primary race lightly against a less familiar opponent.
There are many reasons why I continue to enthusiastically support Larry, including his active and aggressive support for environmental preservation, healthcare for children, state education aid, small businesses, tax reform and armed service veterans. As chair of the Legislature’s Utilities and Energy Committee, Larry championed the development of clean, renewable energy. He co-sponsored legislation that protected and improved our lake water quality and aggressively fought for the passage of legislation to limit greenhouse gases.
As former chairman of the South Portland Democratic Committee, I had the pleasure of working with Larry and greatly appreciated his ongoing support in helping to build our grassroots. Please join me in voting for Larry on Tuesday so he can continue his excellent work in the Senate.
Richard Rottkov
