After reading the recent letter from Christopher Kessler [Do your part: keep the Greenbelt trail clean, April 18, 2008], it inspired me to write a letter of appreciation for one of my neighbors, Bruce Gooley.  After his retirement a few years ago, almost every morning at sun up Bruce heads out for a walk in the area, always taking a plastic bag or two with him and every time he returns with it full of trash ­– this happens almost everyday! Sad commentary on the rest of our neighbors/visitors in the area, but heartfelt appreciation to Bruce for his efforts to keep our little area of South Portland clean. Thanks Bruce.
