Letter: Support use of clean burning wood stoves (Printed April 11, 2008)
Editor:
I am writing in to comment on Senator Collins new bill, which provides a $500 tax credit to help make clean burning wood stoves more affordable.
As a mother of a child with asthma, I worry constantly about our air quality in Maine and I support efforts to reduce air pollution and promote energy efficiency. The Collins bill will especially help lower and middle income families who use wood stoves to heat their homes, afford the newer and more efficient clean burning stoves.
Lowering air pollution from wood stoves will not only help children with asthma, like mine, but will also help the elderly who suffer with breathing problems.
Clean air and energy efficiency is a good thing for all Maine people.
