Letter: Stop busing (Printed Feb. 22, 2008)
Editor:
Do you know why our taxes keep going up?
One reason is that in order to get reelected, politicians think they
have to do something for those who might vote for them and give them
taxpayer’s money.
So we have benefits for the majority, and how could you possibly vote
against the school budget and get reelected – an increase of $1,225,698
– and break the promise to keep the tax cap at 3.4 percent? Instead
they want to raise it to 6.95 percent. We need to get rid of this kind
of councilor and elect some people who can show the school board how to
save money and get a good job done.
One suggestion: get rid of the school buses. Hire buses for the athletic teams. It is estimated that $400,000 would be saved.
Think of the beneficial time parents would have with their kids and get
to know the kids that they were car-pooling. Taking kids to school is
not education. The public should not pay for it!
