Letter: Vote: Boudreau, Blake (Printed Nov. 2, 2007)

Editor:

Too often these days, it seems that government serves a small
minority – usually big businesses – rather than the whole community.
While it will be more difficult to change things at the federal level,
perhaps we can start closer to home by electing local representatives
who will listen to the residents and really serve the broader
community, rather than just a few business owners.

We had the opportunity to attend many of the city council workshops and
meetings this summer, and were very impressed with Linda
Boudreau. She really cares about South Portland and
takes the time to thoroughly research issues so that she can make
well-informed, educated decisions. She also truly listens to
the residents and works to serve the broader community, even
if that means supporting something she may not personally like! We
really need more intelligent, thoughtful, and fair-minded people like
Linda serving us in the government.

Tom Blake seems to be such a person, and we’d like to give him a
chance to serve South Portland as well. Like Linda, Tom feels it’s
important to encourage public participation and listen to the
residents. He wants to encourage more people in the community to
participate in shaping our city’s future; surely South Portland will be
a better place if more of us take the time to get involved.

Please join us in supporting Tom Blake and Linda Boudreau for South Portland City Council.

Sincerely,

Stacey, Neil and Olivia Collins
