Letter: Food Cupboard damage (Printed Aug. 10, 2007)

Editor:

All the rain we have had in the past two months has
raised havoc. Drains have overflowed and flooded the Cupboard space.
All refrigerators, freezers, food, equipment and flooring have had to
be removed. The space has been decontaminated, painted and partially put
back together.

We have not had to shut down serving families in
need (Over 400 families a month come to us for food.), but it has put a
severe strain on our finances.

We are all volunteer, so all donated funds go directly to purchase
food, and supplies. Cleanup has cost us $2,500 to date. If anyone would
like to help defray this expense, please send to:

South Portland Food Cupboard

29 Aspen Avenue

South Portland, ME 04106

We thank you!
