    We are very fortunate to have David Backer running
for a second term on the Town Council this November. 

    I find David to be an articulate, thoughtful,
caring, and dedicated person, who takes his commitment to the town very
seriously. He has an open mind when it comes to issues before the
council. He does not prejudge a matter, but weighs all the details
before making an informed decision.

    During this past budget season, he consistently came
to the school board budget meetings, to educate himself on the facts
and concerns of all stakeholders. As a member of the School Board, I
can attest to the significance of his efforts to fully understand the
many issues inherent in the formulation of the school budget.

    Some of David’s notable skills are his willingness
to work hard, to dig through the layers of an issue to formulate an
objective understanding, to clearly articulate that understanding, and
to genuinely listen to others’ points of view.

    As a candidate and current Town Council Chairman,
he’s done his homework and he’s listened to folks throughout the
community.

    Cape Elizabeth is very fortunate to have an
extraordinary group of professionals dedicated to the operation of our
town. David Backer understands this and will work hard to ensure that
high quality government continues.

    I hope you’ll join me in supporting him for re-election with your vote.
